I write essays on taste, technology, and the repricing of creative labor. In 2019 I argued in a PhD dissertation at UC Irvine that the master medium was dissolving and that judgment would outlast craft. The labor market took seven years to catch up. This site is the record.

Most of what I do is notice a pattern in one field and show how it is already running in another. Music, radiography, law, code, and investment banking do not look alike until you stand far enough back. Then they all look the same.

I am angry at institutions that substitute process for thought and patient with anyone trying to leave one. The writing is for people at an inflection point. If that is you, the letter below will usually find you before the next wave does.
